How to use Bluetooth on HP Pavillion ZD8230EA (ZD8000 serie) with Windows Vista

Neither the drivers provided with Windows Vista are compatible with the HP bluetooth, neither there are updated drivers on the HP website: the ZD8000 serie is not still supported (after only 2 years!).

The solution is using the drivers of Windows XP. However those drivers are not available on the HP website, you will have to use those of your original recovery CD.

The main setup will not run, probably because it does not recognize your license (you, obviously, have installed Windows Vista with a non-hp CD).

Note) If you run setup.exe you will get an error about your bluetooth license. If you try going in the util subdirectory you will find BTinstall.reg, which will make BTinstall.vbs run (from C:…) at windows boot, strtmenu.exe which will open your start menu and btinstall.vbs which will install your bluetooth device (from C:…)

Solution
  1. Open the command prompt (cmd.exe) and go in the D:\SWSetup\Btooth directory (where D: is your CD-ROM driver).
  2. Execute setup.exe /qn
  3. Wait and choose to install drivers if asked
  4. Pray it works

Note that this would copy your BT files in the windows directory (see second image)
