Changing Windows’ Remote Desktop port
Modifying the registry you are able to change the Remote Desktop listening port.
Note that the Remote assistance invitation file generator has a bug in Windows XP and does not use the port in the registry, but it is hard-coded. So, running XP and changing the port will stop remote assistance to work.
You will need to modify this key in your registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\
TerminalServer\WinStations\RDP-Tcp\PortNumber
