PocketOutlook Eraser
This very little Windows Mobile application will let you delete all your appointments, contacts and tasks.
This tool is very useful when you’re going to recreate a pairing with a desktop Outlook: if you don’t delete all these things from your mobile device before connecting it to your desktop, they will be merged. In addiction, if you have the same entries on the mobile and on the desktop, those entries will not be synched after the pairing. This will happen at least with Windows Vista.
Please note that in order to install CAB files you need to copy them into the device and then, from Explorer, tap on them.
What you need
- A mobile device with Windows Mobile 5 or later
- Microsoft .Net Compact Framework 2.0 SP2
Downloads
In order to use this application you need to have the Microsoft .NET compact framework 2.0 installed.

I just downloaded this, and will give it a try.
Do you think you would consider a future version that selectively retains some appointments?
I use Lotus Notes at work, and often it synchs requiring all records to be synched, so I get duplicates of almost everything.
Also, what are you developing with? I have looked at doing some of this myself, but did not get the developer suite from MS loaded properly

Yes, I will consider, but you should give me more details about it. Consider sending me more details about how to filter things.
This app is written in Visual Basic .NET with Visual Studio 2008.

I already had the NET framework on my device. I downloaded the version you specified and installed it as a repair.
Your CAB didn’t work. Too bad really, it looks like a nice package

What was the exact problem about installing the CAB?
Actually you wasn’t needed to repair the installation… “If you do have already installed this on your computer, but you are unable to install to the pocket device…”

When I try to delete the contacs, I get the following error: “Native method call failed” and contacts are not deleted. What can I do?

iac: I’ve googled for it and found quite nothing. It seems like an error when instantiating the PocketOutlook object. What version of Windows mobile are you using? Have you checked of having the correct the compact framework 2.0 with service pack 2? It may be a bug that has been patched.

Dear Sid,
When starting the Eraser I get the following massage:
An unexpected failure occured. Shut down and restart the program.
Can not find Microsoft.WindowsMobile.PocketOutlook, Vesion=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31BF3856AD364E35 or one of the dependicies.
I run mobile 2003SE on a Mio 168. Had the same problem whith your version 1.0.
Hope you will be able to find a solution since this will be for me a big help.

Hello from Italy,
are you talking about deleting MSN contacts? Do you mean deleting them from Windows Live or from the local database?
As I replied to Iac by comments (since he left no e-mail contact), I have to ask you:
(1) Which version of Windows Mobile do you have?
(2) Do you have the .Net compact framework 2.0 installed?

Yes Sid,
I did several times and reinstall, reset and all the other things I could think of but no result. Any other options?????????

Hi Fred, I’ve found it.
The problem is about the operating system. As reported in the requirements (”What you need”) the minimum Windows Mobile version supported is the 5.0. You have the 2003, which is previous.
Unfortunately Microsoft.WindowsMobile.PocketOutlook is not supported on PPC 2003 SE, it is supported in Windows Mobile 5.0 and higher versions only.

@Bill: I think that Opera misconfigured your extenstion association. BTW I suppose you are using the Beta of Opera Mobile. You should find a tool to modify the extesion associations…

GREAT tool, real! Don’t know why but had very annoing messages ’cause activesync was not able to synchronise some items even deleting them onto the PC.
If u want to release an italian language pack I’ll translate it for u for free (am besten von Deutsch aus). Liebe Grüße aus Venetien.

Thanks Michele, but I do not indend to translate the software in any other language: I don’t think that translation is necessary for a so poor UI. Interestingly I am Italian too, and my name is Michele!
Thx again! Sid.
